Gove Port Tourism Precinct
The Gunyangara (Gove Port) Tourism Precinct is underway in the East Arnhem Region – May 2023
Local Indigenous Business Enterprise Deltareef Pty Ltd are delivering the first package of works that will see the construction of new land infrastructure at Inverell Bay, near Nhulunbuy.
The $1.4 million package of works includes new toilet facilities, shade and seating to provide additional amenities and comfort for visitors and users, ultimately enhancing their overall experience.
This $8 million Gunyangara (Gove Port) Tourism Precinct project will deliver improved land and marine tourism infrastructure at Inverall Bay to enable growth in the tourism industry in the region.
The Precinct will include:
- A new rock groyne accessible by vehicles and pedestrians.
- A floating jetty.
- Improvements to the existing car park.
A further public tender will be released to deliver a package for the new floating jetty, rock groyne and car park upgrades. The overall project is expected to be complete in 2024.
Gunyangara (Gove Port) Tourism Precinct is jointly funded by the Australian Government, contributing $4.5 million through the Aboriginal Benefits Account to the Gumatj Aboriginal Corporation, the Northern Territory Government with $1.5 million and Developing East Arnhem Limited with $2 million.
