Northern Territory’s unique culture showcased in LA mural partnership

A new mural celebrating the Northern Territory’s stunning nature, wildlife, and Aboriginal culture has been unveiled on Venice Beach's famous Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Los Angeles.

This vibrant artwork is the result of a collaboration between Tourism NT, Tripadvisor, and the Darwin Street Art Festival (DSAF), designed to bring a piece of the Territory to the global stage.

Created by Territory artists Jason Lee and Trent Lee, along with LA-based artist Ryan Yanoe, the mural beautifully captures the essence of both the Top End and Central Australia. Featuring finches, the kapok flower, the desert rose, and a red kangaroo, the mural highlights the Northern Territory’s rich landscapes. The artwork’s QR code invites passers-by to learn more about the Territory and its attractions.

The mural will remain on display until October 2024 and is part of a broader year-long international marketing campaign aimed at increasing global tourism to the Northern Territory, with a focus on the US, Canada, and Europe.

By showcasing the Territory's beauty and culture in high-profile locations, Tourism NT seeks to inspire international visitors to explore more of the region and enjoy longer stays.

This partnership not only enhances the Territory’s visibility in key tourism markets but also builds a creative exchange, with LA artist Ryan Yanoe set to collaborate with local artists during the next Darwin Street Art Festival.
