Record cruise growth in the Northern Territory
The Northern Territory's cruise sector is experiencing rapid growth, generating $181 million in total economic output and supporting 527 jobs, as revealed in the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and Australia Cruise Association’s annual report, The Value of Cruise Tourism.
Darwin, the Territory’s primary cruise hub, played a central role in this success.
In the 2023-24 season, the NT welcomed a record 131 cruise ships, with Darwin hosting 118. The national cruise sector saw a 49.7% surge in economic output, driven by increased passenger and crew spending.
The NT’s upcoming 2024-25 season is poised for even greater success, with 127 calls already booked for Darwin.
