Remote Be Crocwise chats
Delivering croc safety messages to communities across the Top End, from Darwin city to some of the most remote corners of Northern Australia, that’s the mission of the Be Crocwise team.
Across Northern Australia saltwater crocodiles can be found in most waterways, so for Territorians and our visitors, learning to co-exist with them is a must. During Be Crocwise presentations, our dedicated Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife Rangers work closely with Aboriginal Ranger Groups, Local Authorities, schools and community leaders, uniting the knowledge and passion of the whole community to make sure that everyone hears and understands these important public safety messages.
Our NT Parks and Wildlife Rangers Stacey, Natasha and Kelly have recently travelled to Gapuwiyak and the Tiwi Islands to deliver the Be Crocwise safety messages. ,The warm-hearted welcomes they received were a wonderful reminder of the hospitality we are always grateful for when visiting so many remote NT communities.
With knowledgeable support from the Yirralka Rangers in Gapuwiyak and the Tiwi Ranger Program in the Tiwi Islands, the Be Crocwise safety messages delivered during each community and school visit were locally relevant and often in the local language.
Community driven and co-delivered safety messaging, like Be Crocwise, ensures that everyone knows how to stay safe when living and working in the Top End. Whether we live in a community bordered by the sparkling Arafura Sea, a township situated on the banks of the beautiful Lake Evalla, or indeed the suburbs intersected by creeks and drains, everyone needs to Be Crocwise.
