Cricket history reborn as Top End Test tickets drop
Test cricket is set to make a long-awaited return to Darwin this August, marking the first red ball match in the Top End in 22 years. From 13 to 17 August, Australia will face Bangladesh in a historic 5-day Test, giving fans the chance to witness world-class cricket on home soil.
Part of the Northern Australia Series, this landmark event is expected to draw visitors from across the country, delivering significant economic benefits and building on the success of international fixtures last year. It also launches a record-breaking 2026–27 cricket season.
Aussie cricketer and Territorian Jake Weatherald was in Darwin for the launch of tickets going on sale and took the opportunity to meet a few fans.
'The chance to see the national team will inspire a lot of kids to pick up a bat and ball like it did with me and will give cricket in the Territory a big boost,' he said.
'I'm really excited by the possibility of playing in front of family and friends up here and taking on what will be a strong Bangladesh line-up.'
This is a rare opportunity to be part of sporting history in Darwin.
