Parrtjima 2026 has opened with its biggest weekend on record, attracting nearly 8,300 attendances across 3 nights and setting the tone for a strong program running until 19 April.

Opening night featured a standout performance by Electric Fields at the Gathering Ground, drawing a large and diverse crowd against the backdrop of the MacDonnell Ranges. The momentum continued across the weekend, with performances from 3% and Paul Ah Chee, alongside tributes to the late Parrtjima Curator, Rhoda Roberts AO.

The Parrtjima Blak Markets also returned, featuring 16 stallholders and showcasing works from Central Australian and Northern Territory (NT) Indigenous artists.

There is more to come this week, with performances and conversations from artists including Emma Donovan and BARKAA, alongside workshops, talks and hands on cultural experiences for festivalgoers.

With a strong opening and a full program ahead, Parrtjima continues to showcase the depth of culture, creativity and talent across the NT.
