Park report cards
Northern Territory (NT) parks and reserves conserve the best of our landscapes, flora and fauna.
They also offer you the best of the Territory's nature and culture-based experiences.
Parks and Wildlife is committed to managing NT parks and reserves effectively, so that key values are maintained or improved.
Every two years Parks and Wildlife asks the following questions:
- what is the state of our most important parks?
- are our management systems effective?
- what improvement can be made?
2014 was the first time Parks and Wildlife published park report cards.
Each report card includes information on:
- the natural, cultural and visitor values of the park and our knowledge of them
- where resources, in terms of ranger time, is being invested
- the status of threats, including fire, feral animals and weeds
- managing for visitor safety and enjoyment and community engagement activities
- managing cultural values.
The report cards summarise good progress and also where challenges lie.
Our parks are public assets and it is important that you keep an interest in your parks and have a say.
The next round of evaluation and 'State of the Parks' reporting is planned for 15 of our most valuable parks in 2017.
If you have comments or questions about the report cards call Parks and Wildlife on (08) 8951 8250 or email parkplanning@nt.gov.au
